Dr. Bettye Muwwakkil, Ph.D.

Founder / Chairman / CEO

Dr. Bettye Muwwakkil has established herself as an entrepreneur, speaker, author and scholar, and as a leading voice for her generation in the ecosystem of minority health and health disparities. She is the founder, chairman and CEO of, Access to Wholistic and Productive Living Inc., a multimillion-dollar research, consulting, training, technology, and analytics 501-3c headquartered in Brentwood, MD.

Dr. Muwwakkil has received numerous awards for business and technology excellence including the National Health Equity Mover and Shaker Award and honors for administering the first research based CHW training funded through Morehouse School of Medicine with NIH approval, she was named “Businesswoman of the Year” in 2014 for Prince George’s County, Maryland, was elected by the State of Maryland legislatives to serve on the state task force for the regulations of Community Health Workers training (single seat position). Dr. Muwwakkil also served on the Morehouse School of Medicine – Satcher Leadership Institute community team (CACE). In 2018 from Morehouse School of Medicine and played a significant role in research at the Morehouse School of Medicine and the University of Maryland Behavioral Health (participant’s recruitment, curriculum development, training, and technical assistance). Additionally, she was selected by Maryland Department of Health- Minority Health Division to represent the state of Maryland in a Center for Disease Control three years training program “Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health (REACH) efforts to reduce health disparities and achieve health equity among specific racial and ethnic groups in communities with the highest risk or rates of chronic disease. Which inspired and positioned her to most notably design, implement, and evaluate a robust portfolio of programmatic interventions for underserved communities with high rates of immigrants, HIV/AIDS, infant mortality outcomes, substance use prevention and disorders, behavioral health challenges, and Social Determinants of Health.

Dr. Bettye Muwwakkil, PhD, played a role in the development of the Neighborhood Health Ambassador (NHA) network to address cancer health disparities in the National Capital Region, specifically focusing on promoting breast cancer screening post-pandemic and expanding digital healthcare access.
